Why eat soup out of a can when you can have delicious homemade soup!
It is not as difficult as one might think. Plus, with something as simple as a crockpot, and a little preparation time, the soup will pretty much cook itself. I find myself using a variety of recipes. Some soup recipes take less time to prepare than others. I find that using a recipe my mom used can make the meal extra special. Soup, after all, is one of life's great comfort foods.
I remember growing up watching my mom make noodles from scratch. She would roll out the dough, cut the noodles and let them sit over night. She would carefully wash and soak the beans for another famous soup. Potatoes, carrots, peas, celery, green beans, tomatoes, corn, and broccoli would all be washed and prepared with care. Her recipes always included a variety of fresh spices, fresh vegetables, and a pinch of love.
There are some simple soup recipes out there which only use canned or frozen vegetables, but one would be surprised how much using fresh vegetables in your home made soup can really make one's recipes pop! The size, shape, and texture of the vegetables one uses can also make a remarkable difference. For example a carrot can be used as baby carrots, or it can be sliced, diced, grated, etc. Each style accents the flavor of the soup differently. Each texture highlights your perception uniquely.
Another cooking guide tool to keep in mind is experimentation. Don't be afraid to try something new. Looking for a unique recipe flavor? Improving your menu? Try adding a little barley or couscous. Find a recipe you like? Make it your own. Add your own cooking flair. Soon you will find that you are able to make homeade soup just like mom or grandma used to make. Make your soups fresh. Make your soup recipe homemade. Put a little "you" in your soup and you will be rewarded with a fabulous treat everyone will Love! Enjoy them all!
