Classic Homemade Vietnamese Soup
Lotus Root Pork Soup Recipe (Canh Cu Sen)
This homemade Vietnamese soup recipe combines the savory blend of pork ribs, lotus root, and scallions. Serves 4
Ingredients:
- 1 1/4 lb. lean pork ribs cut into short lengths
- 1 lb. fresh lotus root peeled and thinly sliced.
- 5 cups water
- 2 tablespoons Vietnamese fish sauce (Nuac Cham)
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 3 scallions sliced using both white and green sections
Directions:

Place ribs, lotus root, scallions, salt, and water in a sauce pan. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat, cover, and allow to simmer 1-2 hours until pork well cooked and fluid is reduced to approximately 4 cups.

Add fish sauce to taste
